Professional         Growth

Pursue career opportunities within health care, industry, education, research, and other roles as they evolve for the dental hygienist.

PGD. 1

The upcoming future generations are by far the most important patients to educate. Reaching out to young minds will forever change the future of the individuals and the future of our careers. Amidst the pandemic colleagues of mine and I were given the task of selecting a target audience, as well as making a lesson plan to execute. We were blessed enough to have the time to come in and give our lesson plans with extra safety precautions due to COVID causing major changes. Originally we were planning to teach 11-12 year olds. However, due to schedules and safety the school wanted us to teach 4th graders instead. Which was not far off from our target age. We only slightly adapted our lesson plan for the class by explaining any word that may be above their education level, such as caries and bacteria. Also, we touched base on how tobacco can affect oral health. This career path of educating children was wonderful, and it helped that our lesson plan was well received and understood by the kids. I would love to adventure off and teach about oral health to all that want to learn.

Below is a PDF of the outline of our lesson plan.

Letter of recommendation.
